Busyness? Business? Look I was busy.

6.15.2012

Have you noticed my silence over the last couple of weeks? Truth be told, it was an involuntary absence birthed out of necessity. I got busy. Really busy. Like...never even looked at Facebook, Twitter or even thought about blogging, busy.

Mainly it was work. The last two weeks have been the busiest I have ever been in my job (including working my first ever true overtime) and I knew I had to buckle down and disappear until it was all over. It's really hard to explain what I do to people and why there was this period of intensity...but I made it through to the other side and will likely not be as busy for the rest of the year. It truly was physically and mentally draining. All I wanted to do after work was crawl into bed. And work is never the only thing going on in anyone's life so I certainly wasn't able to act on that desire with much frequency.

Needless to say I'd felt "on hold" for a couple of weeks.

It never ceases to amaze me how things in life always seem to converge at the very same moment to create the perfect storm. Is it some sort of natural law that difficult things (or just influential factors) must come in clusters?

For instance, did moving 30 minutes farther out of town, switching churches, getting busy at work and entering the third trimester have to all happen at one time? As these factors have collided over the last few weeks I have found myself feeling anti-social and distant from my friendships. Any one of these things alone would not have made much difference but together...serious change.

So there is my brief explanation for my absence. Hopefully I will be back to more interesting blogging soon. Meanwhile...I am a week away from my third trimester and less than three months away from becoming a mother. Once I have time to think about that I'm pretty sure it will feel mind blowingly soon.

  1. It does seem like tough things happen at once. And, as a pregnant lady, any added stress seems to be amplified. Glad you made it through!

  2. Welcome back! Yes, as the expression goes "when it rains, it pours". Had something similar happen to me this week. Praise the Lord though, we got through.

And only three more months, wooo!!
