Nursery: Calvin & Hobbes

8.25.2012

The nursery is done! I decided to do a Calvin & Hobbes theme. Now, you can't go out and buy Calvin and Hobbes gear since Bill Watterson never wanted to market it. Which means, a nursery in this theme requires a lot of crafting and do-it-yourself projects. I wanted to do it on a budget so I didn't go overboard but I'm happy with the result. It's pretty simple. Sorry I couldn't take better quality pictures to share with yall, but you get the idea. :) Here's how it came out:

Calvin wears red and Hobbes is orange so I went with those colors and added navy to tie it all together.

(Orange boxes - Michaels; Hobbes crocheted plush - Etsy)

(Navy checkered bedding - Ebay; Red/Navy/Cream sheets - Babies R Us)

(Fabric garland - crafted; Fabric squares - crafted)

I've seen a couple other Calvin and Hobbies nurseries online and I really wanted to do a mural because that seems to make them. But alas, we're renting so I decided to just do a painting. I think we're going to add his name to the left top corner after he's born.

(Light switch cover - crafted)

(Framed comic strips)

It was fun being crafty and putting together the theme. I love Calvin & Hobbes. I hope our son loves them sometime too.
Well, the nursery is ready, bags are almost packed, and nesting is well under way. Now all we gotta do is have this baby!
