Top 7 Worst Actors in Hollywood

My friend Ryan has inspired this post after a disappointing movie venture involving an actor who I am pretty positive is a movie ruiner.

Most people who know me know that I love movies. In fact, the majority of my pet peeves revolve around how people view movies. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a snob about movies or care what sorts of movies you enjoy. I just am that person who enjoys the Oscars every year regardless of who the host is, gets upset if I miss the previews, and spends an unprecedented amount of time on imdb.

I've always have a running list of actors that I just cannot stand. I don't really understand why they get hired (perhaps it's their charm or good looks?) so frequently but if I see them on a cast list there is a very strong change I will pass on seeing the movie. It's hard to really put them in order but I thought for fun, I would give it a shot today.

This list is just for actors that are always bad. There are plenty of actors that are one-dimensional and can only act one type of character and suck at the rest...or aren't great but aren't distractingly horrible.

There are also some lesser knowns and "non actors" (aka Comedians, singers, directors, etc. that have acted in movies but are really not primarily actors) who are worse, I am sure. But for mainstream actors getting paid the big bucks, this is my list.

7. Keanu Reeves

Look, I'm not saying that I don't love the Matrix, and maybe in all fairness he's more in the one dimensional category, but I cannot think of a single movie that I've seen him in which I thought he acted well. In fact he distracts me because his style of acting annoys me. Or maybe it's just his face. Either way, not a fan. Feel free to send me suggestions for movies you think he did well in, but for now he remains on my list.

6. Brendan Fraser

This has one exception: Scrubs. I liked him on Scrubs and I've heard he is an incredibly nice guy so I feel a twinge of guilt for including him. However, his choices for movie roles are almost universally cheesy and he doesn't seem to be able to act other than just being a ginormous goofball. Yes I said it...goofball.

5. Hayden Christensen

Okay fine I admit it. When I was 13 and Star Wars came out I had a minor crush. But is there anyone out there who thinks he did a great job in that role? I mean really? Granted, the newer Star Wars dialogue make even good actors (Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman) look bad, but I'm almost positive that Mr. Christensen is just a awful actor all around.

4. Nicholas Cage

Nicholas Cage is not a good actor. Okay? He's been in some half decent movies, but he himself is not a good actor. I can provide video evidence for this. In fact, I make a habit of not seeing movies in the theater that he's in because he always seems to RUIN them for me. He's a movie ruiner. He can take otherwise good characters and destroy them. On the upside though, he's one of the most fun people to make fun of and complain about. Where would I be without his consistently awful movie choices to make sarcastic comments about? Next up...Ghost Rider II...

3. Paul Walker

Not. A. Good. Actor. A lot of people seem to like the Fast and Furious movies...but that doesn't make them good movies and that doesn't make him a good actor.

2. Vin Diesel

I don't like you Mr. Diesel. Up until today I thought you were a wrestler/actor. I'm not sure how you got cast in Saving Private Ryan but otherwise your movies are painful to watch.

1. Channing Tatum

Wow you guys, I can't even describe to you how much I do not like Channing Tatum. I know some girls find him attractive and don't mind his lack of acting skills since he primarily stars in movies where they are irrelevant. And hey, I'm not against sappy chick flicks in general...they have their place in the rainy-saturday-tv-movie-guilty-pleasure-genre...but I seriously can't stand this guy. Yes he's a bad actor, but there's something more. He irks me. I get annoyed just thinking about him. I can't watch his movies because he makes me angry. It's a serious problem, I might need to get some help. But even so, I don't think there are many people who would come to his defense as an actor.
